Foster Program Part of PAWS Rescue's mission is to always put the animal first. When we learn of a dog that is in need, we immediately start evaluating our resources to determine if we can save him/her. Because we do not run a shelter or have a facility to house our dogs, the fosters are the backbone of our organization. We can only rescue as many dogs as we have foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can rescue. Through our Foster Care program, dogs have a safe, healthy “place to be” until loving homes can be found for them. By fostering, you are choosing to provide these dogs a second chance at life. While being a foster may seem appealing, it's not always an easy one. Dogs are often very scared and unsure of what's happening to them. PAWS rescues a lot of puppies. They will need to be house trained, taught to walk on a leash and socialized in order to be a wonderful family companion. Dogs may also need some extra special attention. They may have separation anxiety or fear and as a foster you will have to be patient and understanding as you work with them to overcome these issues. When you decide to become a foster you are making a commitment to this dog to provide them with the loving home they need until they are adopted. There is no time limit on this. PAWS Rescue works diligently to find each dog a home as quickly as possible, but some dogs take longer than others. If you feel that you can commit to helping PAWS save a dog, review our foster FAQS and submit a foster application. A foster coordinator will be in touch with you soon to arrange an interview and discuss your application.
